Samvedana’s team visited Chavadi Ashram on 15th February with a humble purpose: to spend some quality time with the kids.

About Chavadi Ashram:

• Chavadi Ashram is NOT an orphanage. It is a haven for 31 kids with a strong belief that every child has a right to dream and deserves to be provided a chance to make their dream a reality.
• Kids whose parents are not able to afford their education are admitted in Chavadi Ashram where their education, food, clothing is funded until the kids finish schooling.

Samvedana at Chavadi:

• Our volunteers were at the Ashram by 8:30. By then, most of the kids were up and were ready for breakfast. We served dosa+ banana. The breakfast session went up to 9:30.
• Then we had a casual ‘intro’ session, where each kid came forward, introduced himself to everybody over there and performed something at which he is good. There were real good singers, dancers, painters etc.
• Totally on the kids’ demand, their chosen songs were played and all the kids danced for about an hour, until they were exhausted.
• We then played their favorite Tom & Jerry movie for about an hour, which both the kids and the volunteers thoroughly enjoyed.

Finally, when the clock struck 12, we realized it was time for us to leave and for them to study. With the kids hugging us and asking us to get other films the next time we come, it was painful for us to leave them, but promising ourselves that we will be back here at least once in a month, we bid farewell.
