The above table doesn't include the amount we have spent for Dresses, Books and Shoes. On an average this amounts to around 1300/- to 1500/- per kid.

Though we succeeded in our first step, that is in identifying these deserving students and pitching in for the initial expenses ( school donation + uniforms + books ), we are falling hugely short of funds for us to be able to support these kids every month, and in the larger picture, for the next couple of academic years.

This has been a dream come true for us, that we are laying the initial foundation for 12 kids, for their better future
and now is the time for each and every one of you to share this dream along with us. Please, Please donate,  let it be any humble amount.

You are aware that Samvedana is built over the concept of micro donations, and even 50 rupees per month from you is going to partially support a kid and we will be highly grateful for any amount of donation from you.

Please make a commitment of donating to a kid on a monthly basis. We appreciate one time donations too :)

EDUCATION

wow! thanks!
very useful information! Really fantastic post. Thanks for sharing.

why do we need money to pay the fees

Imagine...someone who does not have money will not be able to study at all. Instead of asking for donations for fees, lets question the system itself which does not allow proper education without money. Education of a child should be a social responsibility. How long can we go doing this and keep tagging ourselves as social workers thinking about poor and downtrodden people.

Imagine about the child who knows that he is studying because someone is helping him. How will he ever get the confidence. What is he learning..just the importance of money. We believe that he will do well in his life and will be able to help some more needy children..if that is the case then let us think once more that what are we doing. Are we ever to bring this situation to an end?

Life is all about doing small

Life is all about doing small insignificant things which becomes significant if significant larger set of people take them up. So as far as I understand you must be either a great thinker who want to solve the root cause of the problem or must be someone who has different ideas (both are in positive light! and ofcourse there are various negative filters thru which we can take your comments but I am not doing that now).

But I am afraid you are too pessimistic in categorizing the view of the child. He hasnt been living in a forest till now and all of a sudden we joined him in the school. He was living right beside the school and was watching other kids go to school daily. His/Her parents WANTS their kid to go to school but cannot afford it. So our insignificantly small solution for this problem is to make sure that a make-shift solution is available atleast for the kids around us if not the entire kids.

If you have got better solutions/ thoughts / plans please feel free to let us know. Who knows, together we can reduce the insigificant factor of our solution!

cheers.
